APRA-NY Spring Conference Spring has arrived! April 26, 2019 Artisan Works!<http://artisanworks.net/> Rochester, NY Building, Scaling, and Sustaining a Successful Patient and Family Giving Program Presenter Elizabeth Dollhopf-Brown Assistant VP, Patient and Family Giving University of Rochester Medical Center Gifts from patients and families have produced programs, wings, buildings and have endowed professorships and research funds. Yet, success stories are often anecdotal, sporadic – and sometimes unanticipated. The team at the University of Rochester Medical Center challenged themselves to build a program that would build strong partnerships with providers and produce consistent fundraising success. The Prospect Development team was a critical partner throughout the development of this program and prospect development best practices were critical in designing the system, analyzing results to enhance strategy and demonstrating success. In just a short amount of time, URMC has done just that, realizing a quadrupling of referrals from providers and a 67 percent increase in dollars raised from patients. In this session, we will share the keys to designing a successful patient and family giving program as well as our lessons learned along the way. Choosing the right people and scaffolding them with the infrastructure, training and coaching to be successful takes a bit of science and a bit of art. At the conclusion of this presentation and discussion, you will have an enhanced understanding of both. Skyscrapers and Ski Lifts: An In-Depth Look at Real Estate in NYC and Resort Town USA Presenters Kelly A. Labrecque, Senior Researcher, & Josh Ostroski, Research Associate The Helen Brown Group LLC Real estate is a major factor in determining a prospect’s capacity. Since a great number of our high net worth prospects have multiple homes around the country, it is important to know where to look to confirm ownership and how to estimate value. This session will be divided into two parts: Part I) Researching New York City Property Assets and Part II) Looking at Values and Trends in Western Resort Towns. Part I, presented by Kelly Labrecque, will focus on confirming ownership, estimating property value, and following real estate market trends in New York City. This market was chosen because of the relative challenge it presents to both new and seasoned researchers. She will first give an overview of the real estate market New York City, including the average cost of living, up and coming neighborhoods, and current sales trends. Next, she will focus on the different types of real estate in New York City such as, cooperative apartments, condominiums, and townhouses. Finally, she will present tools (free and subscription-based) for confirming ownership and estimating the value of the different property types. Part II, presented by Josh Ostroski, will focus primarily on real estate in the resort towns of the Western United States. He will discuss the markets and the current and future factors that affect real estate values such as: climate, ski resort consolidation, increased year-round activities, and local and national economies. He will provide information on current trends, in addition to potential pitfalls to look for when researching these areas. Real-life examples and tools will be provided to further clarify these topics. An Interactive Discussion on Parent and Family Giving at Large and Small Institutions Presenter Bill Barry, Executive Director, Office of Family Giving and the Joseph I. Lubin Society, Syracuse University Bring your questions about parent giving to this interactive discussion with a seasoned family giving professional who has deep expertise at both university and private high school levels.
