  • 1.  Electronic receipts

Hi All, I am reaching out to see how other universities have implemented a way for donor's to receive electronic receipts? Those of you who do send electronic receipts (other than those that are generated automatically with online gifts): 1. Which donors get them? 2. Is there a certain dollar threshold? 3. If the gift is from a couple and you have a separate email for each, do you send the email to both? 4. Do you have an automated process that sends them or does someone send each email manually? 5. What has been the greatest challenge for you in setting up the process? 6. How would you measure your results? We are a Raiser's Edge shop but would like to hear from anyone who processes receipts electronically. Thank you in advance for all responses. Phil, We are also starting to build the procedures and policies around electronic receipts in RE and would also love to hear what everyone has to say. At the moment we are having donor's "opt in" for e-receipts. On the paperwork they send back to us with their gift they can check a box asking for an e-mail receipt. At the moment I make a note on the gift, run the receipts as normal, pull the ones that have requested an e-mail receipt, scan them in, and then e-mail them. I am in the process of building our e-receipts and testing it out. I can let you know how it goes if you would like. I went to a case conference last year in Atlanta and Rebecca Weitz presented in one of the sessions about the University of Colorado Foundation's e-receipt process, she would be a good one to contact. Her e-mail is Rebecca.weitz@cufund.org<mailto:Rebecca.weitz@cufund.org> if you want to get in touch with here directly.
