Do these people (politicians!) ever think before they start proposing new legislation?! It’s only worse in this case, because he has been in state/FED politics for probably close to 40 years!

Hello everyone,
Reacting to the college admissions scandal, Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden (D-OR) has announced his intention to introduce legislation that would eliminate the charitable deduction for "donations made to colleges and universities before or during the enrollment of children of the donor's family." Here is a link to the full press release:
Wyden to Introduce Legislation Ending Tax Break for College Donations | The United States Senate Committee on Finance <https://www.finance.senate.gov/ranking-members-news/wyden-to-introduce-legislation-ending-tax-break-for-college-donations> .
While the bill has not been introduced (Sen. Wyden's staff is still working on specific language), this on the surface appears to be a draconian response that would have a significant negative impact on giving to institutions. I hope to learn more about the specific scope of the bill in the coming days and will continue to provide updates.
Thanks,
Brian
