The gift goes on the legal donor record with soft credit to the spouse / partner. The alum, if not the legal donor, still gets counted for participation purposes. I am not at a computer but I believe there is an aasp best practices on this. I am seeking thoughts on best practices pertaining to non-alum spouses particularly around record creation. Currently, when we receive a gift from an alum/non-alum couple we are placing the hard credit on the alum regardless of: A) the check signer B) names on the check. Most of our non-alum spouses do not even have records in our database. > > Just curious what others are doing, and what is best practice here? > > Thanks to all in advance! > > Bob Doser > Senior Associate Director of Analytics & Gift Records > St. Lawrence University > 315-229-5323 >

Hi All, We are reviewing best practices in the gift records area.
