When we held our employee giving campaign, we ran a concurrent drawing that everyone was able to enter- whether or not they donated so that the employees choosing to give to the campaign were able to maintain the full tax benefit of their gift. So while they were advertised together and ran during the same time period, there was a distinction and a clear message that the drawing was open to all. Hope that helps!

I found this in the archives and want to ask an additional question. Do the same rules apply about the gift not being tax-deductible if everyone that returns their donation slip (even with a $0 donation) is eligible to "win" a small prize. They would not have to donate to be entered into the drawing. We are getting ready to do our faculty/staff campaign and were thinking about a drawing for anyone who returned their campaign slip regardless of whether they donated or not.
Thank you.
