If I remember correctly, RE does not let you overpay a pledge as we could using Ellucian's Advance. That would be my first choice. Some institutions will split the gift into two pieces and use one to pay off the pledge and a second piece is entered as a new gift. I don't like that because you lose the audit trail of the single gift. I'd probably delete the pledge and record the entire transfer as a new gift. You cannot increase the original pledge because, well, the donor never pledged that amount so you have no substantiation. John John H. Taylor Principal, John H. Raiser's Edge won't let you overpay a pledge, but it will create a "cash remainder" gift for the amount above the pledge balance. best regards, Katie On Tue, Mar 5, 2019 at 2:03 PM John Taylor <johntaylorconsulting@gmail.com> wrote: > If I remember correctly, RE does not let you overpay a pledge as we could > using Ellucian's Advance. Hello listers, I could use some help in recording/adjusting a gift. We have a donor that made a personal pledge of $576,000. Instead of cash they transferred a deed to property with an appraised value of $2,090,000. What is the best way to record this gift. We are a Raiser's Edge shop.
