  • 1.  Hotel Sponsors and how to list them

    Posted 03-04-2019 10:00 AM
Hi, I'm with a private college and looking to approach various hotels to become sponsors. Can my institution have a page on our website that has a "May we Recommend" list of those sponsored hotels? Or would that be considered advertising, and rule out the sponsorship tax benefit?

Curiosity question: Is anything affected by the language "Official Haircut Place for CSU Athletics"? or "Official Sports Drink for CSU Athletics"? That's an endorsement which then means that 100% of the amount they pay constitutes advertising. John John H. Taylor Principal, John H. No. That would be advertising. Here is our blurb. Feel free to borrow. 5.3. Sponsorships may have non charitable benefits where there is an advertising component. Advertising does not include allowing a sponsor to display their logo, website, or sponsorship message such as “Proud sponsor of.” Sponsorship funds become non-charitable advertising if the following attributes are present. • Messages containing qualitative or comparative language, price information, or other indications of savings or value. • Endorsements of specific products or services. • Inducements to purchase, sell, or use products or services.
