Job Summary
The Project Manager, Development Department will work in a fast-paced fundraising office to meet the emerging needs of a rapidly growing team. The Project Manager will maintain a portfolio of projects that meet the emerging needs of the department. This individual will work with departmental leadership to develop project plans that align with the strategic goals of the organization, while demonstrating strong portfolio management skills with a focus on process improvement and change management. The Project Manager will also serve in a consulting role in cross-disciplinary projects that leverage the department’s expertise
Job Responsibilities
Project Identification
* With leadership and project stakeholders, identifies and organizes projects by defining project scope, goals and deliverables
* Performs regular needs analyses to ensure that institutional needs are efficiently and effectively met
* Identifies key stakeholders and appropriate project team members
Project Initiation and Planning
* Secures project approval, determines resource availability, timeline and financial commitment, and manages project progress
* Effectively facilitates discussion to meet mutually agreed upon goals with customers and team members
* Coordinates complex customer input, ideas and feedback during work sessions with staff and administrators
* Completes detailed project plan documents, including: work breakdown structure, project schedule, roles and responsibilities
* Manages and communicates overall project objectives and goals to the project team
* Presents project plan documents to key stakeholders and audiences
Project Execution
* Manages project execution from start to finish: tracking progress, identifying issues and mitigating risks
* Establishes rapport with collaborating departments and teams in order to successfully partner and achieve project goals
* Meets regularly with project sponsors to clearly and candidly communicate progress toward project milestones and project status, provide insights into project health, proactively escalate issues and provide recommendations for bringing projects back into alignment with expected outcomes when needed
Project Closure
* Completes post-project evaluations to determine project outcomes
* Ensures project outcome is in alignment with desired impact and results
* Completes lessons learned
* Presents outcomes and findings to key stakeholders and audiences
* Assembles and archives project documents after the project completion
Required Education and Experience
Required education: Bachelor’s degree
Required Experience:
At least three (3) years of project management and process improvement experience
Experience managing cross-functional project and/or operational teams
Experience in participating in project teams in planning, organizing and carrying out tasks or assignments
Experience working in a non-profit fundraising environment required
