The IRS has issued revised versions of several documents - mostly just
updating them with no substantive changes that affect our daily lives.
Only one of the following - Form 1098-C (Contribution of Motor Vehicle
Receipt) - seems to have seen the biggest change in format with specific
copies and instructions for donor and donee - plus a separate instruction
booklet for the whole thing.
Also, Publication 3079 (Tax-Exempt Organizations and Gaming) is a much
newer version than the last one but I do not detect huge changes.
And I have decided to add Publication 525 to the download site as it covers
when 1099s need to be issued in charitable gift situations (CGAs and
prizes).
But still no update to 526, 8283/2, 1771, etc. I know for sure that 526 is
being rewritten - as is Publication 544 (Sales and Other Dispositions of
Assets) since the IRS website says they are ;-).
So here are the documents I have updated or added to the Download site
tonight:
- Form and Instruction 1098-C (Contributions of Motor Vehicles, Boats,
and Airplanes
- Publication 17 (Your Federal Income Tax)
- Publication 525 (Taxable and Nontaxable Income)
- Publication 551 (Basis of Assets)
- Publication 557 (Tax-Exempt Status for Your Organization)
- Publication 559 (Survivors, Executors, and Administrators)
- Publication 3079 (Tax-Exempt Organizations and Gaming)
- Publication 4221-PC (Compliance Guide for Public Charities)
On this last one (4221) please note that there are 2 other versions: PF
(Private Foundations) and NC (Tax-Exempt Organizations other than PC and
PF). PF was updated a year ago. NC has not been updated in 4 years.
