Hi, Once a scholarship is fully endowed, how long should it accrue earnings for before being awarded? Is there a standard time frame that most schools use?

I have seen everything from the very next semester to one full fiscal year later (meaning it could be 23 months later). When I was at NC State we followed this second protocol. We award the next academic year unless it was received over the summer and then we wait for the next year. It makes the donor feel good if we award as soon as we can even if the first year's award is a bit less than the following years. Karen L.
