  • 1.  Workplace giving, soft credit?

With the increasing number of third-party processors out there, this has just gotten more and more complicated, especially with the processors who send one EFT payment for both workplace giving and company matches. It's not always easy to keep track of the employees driving the gifts, as we sometimes get a name, and sometimes not even that. So while it's not ideal, we hard-credit the employer or the payment processor, whichever is easier to identify (some of these EFTs just drive me batty), and soft-credit the employee to the best of our ability to actually identify them. We use a combination of appeal and package codes, with custom gift attributes, to enable us to pull decent reports. We can't do much more than that since we don't have dedicated gift processors staff - as it is, about a third of my time is spent doing data entry or correcting someone else's data entry. best regards, Katie On Thu, Feb 7, 2019 at 2:38 PM Gross, Debra <GrossD@email.chop.edu> wrote: > Hi Sarah > > > > We do not soft credit the employer, however we create a unique workplace > giving appeal for each company and that’s how we can track the source. > > > > Debbie > > Debra Gross > Director, Gift and Records Administration > > CHOP Foundation > 3401 Civic Center Blvd > Philadelphia, PA 19104 > 267-426-6488 ● f 267-426-6530 ● m 267-253-0994 > grossd@email.chop.edu ● chop.edu > > > > [image: cid:image001.jpg@01D39E5F.76F250F0] > > > > > > > > *From:* Advancement Services Discussion List < > FUNDSVCS@LISTSERV.FUNDSVCS.ORG> *On Behalf Of *Sarah Rollins > *Sent:* Thursday, February 7, 2019 2:24 PM > *To:* FUNDSVCS@LISTSERV.FUNDSVCS.ORG > *Subject:* [External] [FUNDSVCS] Workplace giving, soft credit? > > > > Hello, > > > > I am curious how others treat employers in workplace giving when recording > gifts. Hello, I am curious how others treat employers in workplace giving when recording gifts. My understanding is that the worker is the hard credit donor, as the funds come from their paycheck. In the past, we would sometimes soft credit the employer, just so we could track where the gift originated from. However, more and more, we are trying to make our soft-credits actually be the source of the funds. Do others soft credit the employer in workplace giving? Just curious what others do and thank you, Sarah
