We run from noon to noon, and the cutoff is at noon for all gifts.

We do the same thing as Aaron mentioned. We put in our materials that checks must be received by that day or the last day of the challenge. If anything comes in afterwards most likely we have already reported out to our constituents, but it does go in by the appeal.

Our push is BEFORE. For example, it has already begun for our May 1st day. Thus, we gather all those gifts/pledges by appeal code and add those to the actual day (plus a one day lag for West Coast) and report totals to leadership right around the day after. After we report to leadership, anything that trickles in on those appeals doesn’t impact that reporting snapshot. It’s an art, not a science for that one IMHO.

That’s a pretty gray area for us. We stop counting the different ways people can give when we think it has run its course. If we have a MobileCause text to give number, that ends when we turn it off. If we do a Constant Contact with a link to our online giving pages, we stop counting those gifts when that activity cools. If there’s a mailing, we count every gift that comes in the designated envelope. We had gifts for Giving Tuesday (which was at the end of November) into the new year because we got gifts in that envelope.

Subject: [FUNDSVCS] Day of Giving-When do you stop counting gifts for the day?
Hi all,
We just completed our very first successful day of giving day at our University. Gifts keep trickling in after the day of the event. I was wondering what do other places do in terms cut off days. When do you stop counting gifts as part of a Day of Giving day? Has anyone done a last push for giving day gifts after the day has past?
Just curious as to what others have done. Thanks in advance!
