Slate for Advancement

    Good morning!

I checked the archives but the last post I saw was from 2020 and now that a few more years have past, was hoping that I could hear from anyone with experience with Slate for Advancement (been in for a few year, just went live, in process of conversion).  The good, the bad, the ugly, I want to hear it all!

    Thanks!

Jen, Here is a spreadsheet that lists colleges' and universities' CRM selections. There are a few listed with Slate you might be able to reach out to.  It is open for anyone to update and add to.

    Jeff,

Thank you for sharing that spreadsheet; is very interesting.  My institution is currently in the selection process, of which Jenzabar is a possibility.  I wonder why there are no institutions using Jenzabar.

    Jen,

We currently use Raiser's Edge/RE NXT and Anthology/iModules but will be starting implementation to Slate next month.

    Jen,

We vetted Slate for Advancement several years ago because our Admission team converted to it and spoke of it highly.  At the time we found it lacking and ultimately chose RE NXT.  At the time it looked very much like an admission-skewed module with Advancement lipstick on it, but I am sure SFA has evolved considerably since then.

    Hi Christine,

I would love to know what drew you away from RE NXT to Slate.

    Best,

    Jen,

Once we signed the last three-year contract with RE, we started searching.  We put together a search committee, came up with about 30 vendors that serviced higher-ed, each member had assignments to interview the vendors and we came up with our top five, narrowed down to three and then we had interviews with current users, full demos of each to staff.  It took about a year and a half to go thru this process and then in January made the formal recommendation to our VP.  We are going into our last full year of RE and signed with Slate so our implementation begins this July with going live next July (the same time our contract with RE and Anthology/imodules ends).  We had a full needs assessment that vendors filled out and we based our interviews on these needs.

    Hi Jen,

Sorry for the late response. I've been involved with two Slate conversions: first with Northfield Mount Hermon, where we chose Slate over RE NXT, and now with Williams College, where we are switching from Advance. There's no comparison in my mind, Slate is by far the better CRM than either of those.

I'm happy to chat if you want.

    Thanks,
    Victor
