We are hoping to offer PayPal as an option on our online giving page. I am interested in learning how your institution has handled the transaction fees, particularly if you are a large, decentralized university. My understanding is that PayPal deducts the fees from the transaction before it feeds to the bank. Where does that cost live? Is it absorbed by the school/unit that receives the gift (i.e. They get the gift minus the fees), or is it covered by a university banking fees account. Currently our credit card fees are paid from such an account, but the PayPal fees are quite a bit higher.
