  • 1.  PaperSave Document Storage

    Posted 10-10-2022 04:11 PM

    Greetings,

We have used PaperSave for storing gift documentation and acknowledgement letter copies for about 10 years.  With the ability to attach documents in RE-NXT and increasing PaperSave pricing, we are considering not renewing our current PaperSave agreement.  If you have worked through a similar change, I'd appreciate hearing how you navigated the process, particularly in terms of stored documents.  Are there ways to liberate, migrate and/or otherwise secure these documents for future post-PaperSave access?

    Thank you,

    Karen

    Karen,
We migrated from RE to a different CRM around 2018.  We also had PaperSave.  An outside vendor built us a new, searchable database for the documents.  Search results return a hyperlink to the document.  Our new CRM has what in RE would be an attribute noting there is a papersave document available. Now I think we could put it directly in the CRM but at the time that wasn't feasible or cost effective.

    Hi Karen,

I'm curious if you are looking to start storing in-house (cloud) or have found a different product? We are a bit behind the times and still have hard copies of EVERYTHING. We have implemented some processes to store more things digitally, but we are looking for a product to use to better streamline our current process and then digitize our hard copies.

PaperSave was a company we were reviewing.

    Hi Lara,

We are looking at the feasibility of using the attachment feature in RE-NXT (Raiser's Edge web view) as a replacement for PaperSave.  PaperSave's significant increase in price combined with a three-year minimum renewal contract at this time is what is causing us to consider other alternatives.  In terms of functionality, PaperSave has worked well for us in the Raiser's Edge database view.  The only other drawback is that as RE-NXT becomes the first place that many of our staff now look for information, having supporting documents in the database view becomes less efficient.  If you are not using Blackbaud Raiser's Edge, this may be a moot point.

    Hi Karen,

As you probably already know, attachments created in Web View in NXT will not appear in database view. This has been a major complaint and operational challenge for many organizations, and is something to be aware of in choosing to make use of this feature.
