Hello -

Over my 6 years at St. John's College, we have had several faculty, staff and students - receive or solicit gifts enbeknownst to our Development Office (both inkind and cash) from donors.  Most have done this benignly not knowing that the development function should be consulted on all cases.  Others have known that the development office should be consulted - but have nonetheless - decided to proceed without informing us until needed.

Does anyone on the list have a development, advancement or advancement services policy or language that can be shared about avoiding these roque efforts and why?

We do communicate our centrality to the fundraising and development efforts to our colleagues - and our site is rich with our GAP and other policies.  What we don't have are bullet points for our officers to use as they encounter such efforts.

Before developing something myself - I was hoping to see what resources other istitutions might provide their fron line folks who encounter such rogue efforts.
