Good morning, all.  We are an arts/culture organization that is dipping our toes more deeply into the grant space.  I recently learned one of our conservation staff received notice of a grant award, which is great.  There is nuance however. The grant is actually being managed, including all reporting, by another entity with our staff conducting research which we then invoice based on project phases over 3 years, for what appears to only be staff salary reimbursement.  The 2nd party is puchasing all equipment.

    Is this a recordable gift?

It is a gift only if your organization owns all IP and research results. It is fine to share a report, but for this to be a gift you can count you must exclusively own all work products (and the research must be mission-related).

If you do not own the work products or if the research is not mission-related, you must question why you would accept the funding and lose that employees time.
