  • 1.  GIK - Restaurant Comp Meals

    Hello -  If a restaurant is sponsoring/comp'ing meals for an event, are they entitled to a GIK donation?  Would it be for their cost of the meal, not market value?  Help!

    Your receipt to them should not include any mention of a dollar amount. It should only reflect what they provided and a headcount. They will need to determine what portion is deductible.

    Generally, the only deductible portion is the value of the food. Services (preparation and delivery) are excluded.
