  • 1.  Gift or no gift?

    Our student government would like to transfer money from their budget to our current campaign. May I count this as a gift or no? My guy says no because the funds are coming from their budget. However, if I do not enter it as a gift, then I have no way to pull it toward money raised for the bank or foundation matching gift.

    You cannot make gifts to yourself. And these internal transfers do not qualify for matching gifts. Typically, those matching programs only match outright individual tax-deductible gifts made from external sources.
