  • 1.  Family Foundation Receipt vs. Acknowledgment

    Posted 06-01-2023 02:14 PM

I am trying to find something in writing to share with our team regarding receipting vs. acknowledging family foundations.  Can we receipt a family foundation or just send an acknowledgment?

    Thank you.

    Yes :-).

A private foundation does not need a "receipt" for tax purposes as they cannot claim a deduction. However, sending them a thank you is certainly appropriate. That could be in either the form of a receipt (if it's a warm and fuzzy one) or an acknowledgment.
