  • 1.  Faculty/Staff Home Solicitations - Best Practices

    Posted 01-10-2023 01:15 PM
    Good afternoon!

We are trying to determine current best practices regarding faculty and staff solicitations, specifically using their home address they provide to HR.  Are you all using that data from your HR departments in order to send physical mailed solicitations for faculty/staff campaigns?

    Thank you for any feedback!

    Hi, Marylyn!

My opinion is I would not solicit faculty and staff using their home address.

Your campus campaign could take on any number of appearances, from having honorary chair(s), to captain's and a volunteer structure of workers to cover all areas of your operations, utilizing a personal solicitation approach, or, be as simple as distributing your materials through interoffice mail. But, I would not utilize home addresses from HR to contact folks at their residence or permanent mailing address.

Just my $0.02. Hope this helps.

    Hi Marylyn,

Every fall, we ask our faculty and staff to support our Annual Fund, with the goal being 100% participation. We solicit them via email, personal outreach from our faculty/staff Annual Fund volunteers, and fun on-campus events. We do not send a physical solicitation letter to their home addresses. After we receive their gift, we send acknowledgement letters to their home addresses, which we obtain from our HR department.

    Hope this helps.

    Best,
    Vidya
