  • 1.  Endowment Reporting Software

    Posted 08-18-2025 06:34 PM

Has anyone had great success with a software tool to help make the production of endowment reports more efficient? The design for multiple pieces associated with each report, and the data merge process with complex fund issues and balancing back to our core Advancement system is a heavy load on staff resources for weeks, for a large volume of reports. Would love to hear about software anyone has used to help facilitate this process.

    Thank you!

I am also interested in this! We are launching our donor portal this year but will still be producing individual endomwent reports. Looking forward to hearing about others experiences.

Fundriver and Odder (Evertrue) and Adavico are some of the leading players here, both on the endowment subaccounting and the report-creation front.

Has anyone successfully and efficiently created endowment financial statements using Blackbaud's Financial Edge or FENXT?

We have a process in place, but I am looking for ways to automate it as much as I can.

    Best regards,

    Tracy

Yes. Using a tool like Tableau or Microsoft power BI You can join different data tables including a balance sheet from FE which contains data from multiple projects. The balance sheet can run on a schedule using the Queue module.

I'd imagine you could also do it with Python although the formatting might not look great.

A good part of the value of some of the report creation companies (thinkin about Mythos, Ovrture, Reporting Kitchen, etc.) is in the high production values for the reports. Querying and data extraction tools like PowerBI and Python can do the heavy lifting just fine, but turning those outputs into something that feels high-end is a project!

I agree that those services can produce very high-end, refined products, the question is "are institutions prepared to pay top dollar for services that basically do one thing AND do donors really need or want that level of perfection?"  Many donors are turned off by that type of overhead being spent by "struggling" nonprofits.   I guess it really depends on what the institution and its donors want.

We implemented FundMiner over the last year.  It marries together our CRM data, expense data and our fund performance data!  It is really a one stop shop.  We will be using it this year for collecting the narrative data on endowment expenditures.  Last year we used FundMiner to create generic reports, and send via Odder, but they have added functionality to send reports directly from their platform.  We have been thrilled with the product and the implementation team!

We are using Mythos to assemble reports for 900+ funds for 1100 households and 1600 donor reports. It still requires a good bit of data consolidation, but is much more streamlined. We primarily email them with a few exceptions and are able to track opens and engagement with Mythos tools.
