  • 1.  dollar value of records for gift in kind

    Hi all - 

    We've received a collection of old records as a gift-in-kind for our music department. Neither the donor nor the faculty member who received the gift know an approximate dollar value of this collection. I'm wondering how you would record this gift in your Advancement system. Online research leads down a rabbit hole on this one, since so much of the value depends on the musician.

    Help please!

    I would take them to a local used record shop (Voltage on Lexington is a good one - or was when I visited) and see if they can give you an estimate.

    Without a third-party to validate you may need to use $1 each as a placeholder.
