We are currently in a brick campaign using Fund Raisers Sports to manage the transactions, production, etc. A complimentary replica brick is included in the purchase price - so the University gets a brick, and the donor gets a brick to keep. On the itemized order information, the complimentary replica is listed at $0.00 and the brick is listed at $175.00. Should the value of the replica be deducted from the overall price to determine the charitable amount? If so, how is that calculated? 50/50?

I am new to brick campaigns, so I appreciate the expertise of others!

You do need to calculate the value. However, as long as it has either the name or logo of the University, it can qualify as an "insubstantial benefit" - provided its value is less than $12.50. You can use the wholesale price you paid for these replicas as the value to determine if they are under this threshold.

If the replica is estimated at more than $12.50. you must subtract what you consider the FMV from the amount paid.
