Great question and I have a similar one.
For example, how do you record the multiple branches of a bank, do you:
- Create a record for each and then link them to a head office or
- Somehow record the details of the branches that you want to track under one record
Similarly with multi-nationals, international companies, etc. that have multiple office locations and might even have multiple entities. Ideally, one would be able to:
- Track alumni and donors that work at a specific location of that company
- Have a cumulative view of all the giving originating from all entities and locations of the same company
- Manage the risk of not assigning new prospect managers to new records reflecting the different office location of the same company
We're currently working on putting together some rules and standards in place so if you have any rules in place or any standards on a naming convention for recording company names, that you could share, I would appreciate it.
Thank you!
George
