  • 1.  PCI - Oral History Project

    Posted 01-29-2021 08:00 AM
Are any other higher ed institutions here familiar with a company called PCI (aka Publishing Concepts) and their Oral History Publications, whereby they call your alumni to collect their stories about attending and then compile into a book for purchase?  If so, what has been your experience with them?

    Thanks for any feedback,

We are currently working with PCI on an oral history project. They just started in January, but so far we have gotten a lot of stories. We have not yet received a data file from them so I can't help there, but they seem to be a good company to work with. I would be happy to connect you with the lead on the project if you like.

I do not have experience with this project.  Although it sounds fantastic.

The company is highly regarded.  I've known their President and EVP (Drew and Rex) for decades - going back to my days at Duke in the 1990s.  Super people to work with!

Our Alumni team has just completed their Oral History project with them.  I work in gift processing so have not been involved, other than receiving the checks from people getting memberships through this project. The ED of Alumni said that they got about 6,000 biographic updates and 5,000 stories from the project. Next month  we get to meet to decide how and where to store these stories.
